Kuhlmann design Group, Inc. (, an innovative Architectural and Interior Design Firm, is seeking a qualified, degreed Junior Interior Designer to join our creative team. The Interior Designer will work closely with Firm Principals, Senior Designers, and Project Managers to provide development, production support, and coordination throughout the project delivery process as a member of the design team. Responsibilities: • Assists with selection and research of project design materials, furnishings, and equipment. • Assists with specification of furniture, fixtures, and equipment under the direction of a senior designer. • Assists with the preparation of elements of project schematic/conceptual designs, under direction of a senior designer. • Prepares required layouts, sketches, and space plans required to convey design intent. • Coordinates Color and Material palettes and prepares presentation boards and materials, under direction of a senior designer. • Assists with the preparation of required project documents, minutes, schedules, and specifications, under direction of a senior designer. • Coordinates and prepares working drawings and other contract documents, sketches, plans, details, and schedules using REVIT, under the direction of a senior designer. • Renders conceptual design ideas and prepares 2D and 3D presentation/design drawings, under the direction of a senior designer. • Maintains material design library organization, ordering of samples, and scheduling vendor meetings. Qualification Requirements: • 1-3 years of experience working in commercial Interior Design, preferably with some hospitality experience. • Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design from a CIDA accredited University. • Experience in developing time management and organizational skills required to undertake multiple projects or facets of various projects; multi-tasking. • Deadline oriented personality. • Experience liaising with both internal and external contacts to exchange information on architectural/interior design materials and methods; professional skills interacting with vendors, design team members and clients. • Ability to work well in a team environment. • Ability to travel. • Assists management with verification of site details to support design when required. • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. • Excellent organizational skills, with strong attention to detail. • REQUIRED SKILLS: Strong working knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe Master Collection CS5, Microsoft PowerPoint Graphics, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word etc.), and BSD Speclink, 3D Studio is a plus. • Exceptional presentation skills. The Campus Facilities-Planning, Design & Construction team of architects, engineers, designers, construction managers, and trades professionals collaborate with a variety of stakeholders to provide environments in classrooms, offices, laboratories, and health care facilities. Projects frequently include FF&E and finish selections, graphics, wayfinding and signage, furniture planning, purchase, and installations. Job Description: Provide support to a senior interior designer, interior designer and interior design associate. Create and prepare color schemes and preliminary plans for interiors; select appropriate furniture and finishes for interior projects. Assist in providing cost estimates. Develop renderings and color presentations of interior design packages and meet with clients. Assist in developing project designs, construction documents, specifications and bid documents for design projects; conduct project/materials research to determine quality and appropriateness for future installations. Assist in observation of work of outside Vendors in the installation of equipment, flooring, furnishings, wall and window treatment, etc. for compliance with contract documents. The purpose of this position is to recruit, manage, and develop interior design direct report staff. Additionally, this position will fill the role of a Senior Interior Designer, fulfilling project assignments and working to develop new business for the firm. Business and client development in the local market area and management of client relationships. Negotiate contracts and ensure compliance. Ensure assigned projects are successfully managed to client's satisfaction. Attend major quality reviews as voice of client. Present work to client at major milestones. Provide leadership to design team with vision and oversight; maintain close contact with interior design staff to ensure production and project quality. Monitor the manpower loading process to ensure effective distribution of workload among interior design staff. Establish and implement necessary communication strategies for the improvement and awareness of design issues across all departments. Ensure each staff member understands the established QA/QC process and that all projects comply with the requirements. Responsible for recruiting and retention of interior design staff. Responsible for performance management for all direct reports. Meet with each direct reporting employee annually to set employee goals and develop a measurement process to assist each employee in the attainment of those goals. Provide input based on employee performance to determine appropriate compensation levels. Review and approve time records and expense reports for Interior Design staff. Represent company to clients, peer organizations, and business associates. Confer with clients and multidisciplinary personnel on overall project goals and objectives. May be required to perform other duties as assigned.
